Generally I find the drinksservicestarts about 10 mins into the flight and dependong on how busy the CE Cabin is, the meal follwos swiftly after drinks have been cleared away, I would say the meal gets served at 30 mins after take off at the latest?
Maybe Crew was a little unfamiliar with the service, many of BA's mixed Fleet Crew prefer longhaul and bid for those, therefore they do not operate the European flights very often and therefore may not be too familiar with the Club Europe Service.
