ISTM that you're not being reasonable in your expectation as you expressed it in your OP that BA should refund the cost of your flight.
Also ISTM that the initial response BA gave to your complaint was rather more than the bland "sorry" as you implied in your OP.
AAMOI, what did you actually say in your original complaint, and in your follow-up to BA's first reply?
