Technologically I see zero chance of you being correct. Multiple 802.11n access points on the aircraft, each supporting between 300 and 600Mbps, this results in vastly more bandwidth on the LAN than would be needed to support a 1-2Mbps stream to every passenger on the aircraft. Single Gigabit Ethernet connection to the media server.
I think you're either underestimating (or are outdated in you knowledge of) the current capabilities of WLANs. There are many more demanding environments out there - this is pretty trivial.
