Gee, I guess one could put there tablet, book, headphones, water, and anything else on the floor or stuffed in the seat between your body and the fixed arm rest or in the overhead bin. And then if the seat adjacent is empty you are stuck with the fixed arm rest so you just have an empty storage area. This weekend both seats next to me in row 19 were vacant so I pushed up the armrests and stretched out almost lay flat. And there is always lots of overhead room in this cabin but I have put my roll aboard under the seat ahead and was still able to stretch my legs out on top of the roll aboard. But that's okay, the more people who go for the row 16 bulkhead seats to take advantage of the extra 3 feet of legroom that the legs cannot even reach then the less people occupying the seats next to me in row 19.
