Hmmm... yes. "Subway" is one that can cause troubles to US visitors in the UK. To many Americans, particularly I suppose those from New York City, it means an underground railway system (a metro). In the UK it means a pedestrian underpass, usually under a road or street but it could be under a railway line.
Except in Glasgow, of course...
