It's all anecdotal other than an assertion by TSA that with a TTN you will do better than the FFP-based one-off carrier programs.
The reality is that most people I know report what is either 100% or very close to over the past 2 years.
As others note, if you have GE, there is no reason to spend $85 more on pre-check. And, to be frank, even if you don't contemplate international travel right now, but might travel abroad in the next 5 years, it only costs $15 more for GE than pre-check and that's only $3/year.
