I was talking about the Shangri-La Pudong- you were correct.
Back to the RC Portman- perhaps have your Travel Agent do the legwork for you- if your corporate rate includes club access then they should be able to work it out. FWIW I do seem to recall the up charge to club being around 800 RMB per night plus service charge so your cost may well be correct.
While we can debate why all day long- the rates in Shanghai and Beijing in particular have both risen considerably in the last two years.
Actually, I think we agree on most things.
By all means, I can understand why someone would stay on Pudong. Personally, I have no business there and NEED to be on the Puxi side.
Though I may not like the upcharge to RC Club Level at the Portman, my problem was more that they quoted me two different rates in the same paragraph, then could not explain why or what it truly was.
I don't doubt rates have gone up. Just found it weird that a month ago, when occupancies were higher, the rates were lower.
