For the last several years, I've been checking liquor (but mostly Cognac) prices at the duty free shops in LHR, ZRH and CDG and in most cases all you are saving is the local sales tax you would pay in your home state...in many cases the df prices were actually
higher than what I would pay in the NYC metro area. Searching on the internet I've found some shops (in the USA) that were 30%
less than the df prices--so while the TSA (new) rule is nice, IMHO so what

The reason I buy duty free liquor is to buy something that I can't usually FIND in the NYC metro area
We always seem to come back with an interesting bottle or two that you can't really find in the US, but they sell it at duty free - glad they've made this rule change... let's just hope it continues to be as smooth as the reports so far
