Would you trade complexity for semi-flexibility (and maybe a saving).

For example there's an R class fare from Scandanavia (eg CPH-LHR-HKG-AKL; CX codeshare) for about £3700, refundable for £170. Not saying that's the best option or that I've fully worked it out but that sort of trade off may be possible.
