But a beautiful drive and the ferry is fun itself. Just clearly state to the rental car agency that you will take the car on the ferry - there will be no assistance on the island in case of breakdown.
Agree with you about the suicidal marsupials. I saw a big grey one just crossing the street 5 inutes out of the ferry
