In general, EU-US tickets don't get any cheaper closer to departure..... unless there is a sale. It all depends on how flexible you are and when you travel.
If one of your flights is during the holiday season for example expect the price to be already high and getting higher closer to departure. But you can always get lucky.

And do realize that the (very) cheap tickets cannot be changed at all.
