There is an arrogance about SQ I actually resent.
Their hard product goes from excellent to barely average (Regional J-class for example, which you can get on 8 hours flights to Australia, not exactly regional to me).
I never never had a bad experience on QR, I cannot say as much on SQ, even in First
Yes, SQ can be arrogant at times, but its 1x2x1 J configuration is preferred by most over QR's 2x2x2, and in F, SQ at least has real suites on the A380. Also, you are not correct to say that QR is consistent when only the 777-200/300s have flat beds in J while the rest of the fleet (A332, A333, A346, etc.) have slanted flat beds.
Personally, I have had terrible experiences with QR F. The ground staff at CDG in particular should all be fired--often, the F check-in line is huge because they are upgrading QR staff instead of attending paid F pax and they can be extremely rude, especially the female Sr. agent who normally supervises the F and J lines.
And, even in J, QR struggles delivering decent service. For instance, QR has got to be the only airline that assigns a cabin crew of 7 to flights operated by A321s and it still takes almost 3 hours for 3 FAs to serve a meal to a maximum of 12 J pax, like on my last CMB - DOH flight.
