If a hole was ripped in the fuselage, there would be a rapid decompression during which things may get sucked out, but it wouldn't last long. Pressure would be equalised in seconds, and you wouldn't have the entire cabin being sucked out into the abyss. The aircraft would still be under control and the pilot would fly down to a safe altitude and land.
UA811 is a real example of this.
