Personally when I have meetings in the Jin Mao tower I would say that Pudong is about as good of an option as there can be.

I agree it is not exactly a fascinating area however it can be very convenient for many meetings.

I was talking about the Shangri-La Pudong- you were correct.

Back to the RC Portman- perhaps have your Travel Agent do the legwork for you- if your corporate rate includes club access then they should be able to work it out. FWIW I do seem to recall the up charge to club being around 800 RMB per night plus service charge so your cost may well be correct.

While we can debate why all day long- the rates in Shanghai and Beijing in particular have both risen considerably in the last two years.
