LRM is a place I'd consider based on others' reviews, but those were from years ago...

The Puli is currently in the pole position (location is ideal), but rates are running at USD$450 AI for Club Deluxe King (Agoda). Peninsula is at USD$408 (with breakfast included) before tax. Langham is similar. This wouldn't be a problem, but occupancies are running quite low and I must be missing something here.

Any recent experiences/advice is greatly appreciated. Loyalty programs are not nearly as important as location (Puxi - Bund and West) and comfort.
Many hotels in Shanghai have club lounges- my personal preference in terms of lounge quality in Shanghai tends to be towards the Shangri-La at Horizon Club level as I find it to be very private and have excellent service. You can easily host a short meeting or two here- and if you book the (complimentary for 2 hours) meeting room this should work out very well.

The Hyatt is an OK hotel however feels like a huge convention property. I would keep this in mind as certainly if you are looking for a luxury property I don't think this will work out very well.

The original RC Portman has an excellent location and a good club- rooms are quite cramped so if you stay here book a jr. suite or above. It is not a new hotel and was one of the very first luxury hotels in PRC- so keep this in mind.

Some people have spoken well about the new FS in Pudong- I have not stayed there so don't know. The original FS in Shanghai is probably the worst FS I have stayed at anywhere- I wouldn't go back unless it is the only option. It does have a club though.

If you want to be "Bund and West" I would probably choose or the original RC (club+jr. suite or larger) or alternatively the PEN. If you shift over to Pudong I would choose Shangri-La (newer tower, Horizon club) or I would be tempted to test out the new Four Seasons which is just across the street beside the shopping mall.
