I would assume in the case of J that fares and status are going to take priority over seat position. I.e. I don't see DL walking $7-10K BE tickets when folks on awards are easy pickings. Moreover, I would guess DL will have already adjusted buckets slightly to avoid having to make these decisions in the first place.
