Sorry to hijack the thread, but I'm pondering how to book a trip to Hawaii at the end if the year. I'll need the PQM (X 1.5) and PQD to hit 1K again. Wife is flying up front on a saver award that I booked right at the 330-day window.

The cost difference between a B class with confirmable instant upgrade is about $50 more than searching for "First Class" and getting a P fare.

Changability/canceling isn't an issue...I'd only be paying the B fare (over M or a deep discount) to get the extra ~5000 EQMs R/T, and to lock up my seat upfront for our vacation, however irrops are always a concern.

Cost notwithstanding, any advantage/disadvantage to B over P, and vice versa?
