It's not OP's fault, but it's also not Hilton's. While most properties would offer a house credit to be used on another date or somesuch, there is no obligation to do so.
It's water under the bridge, but it's always risky to use prepaid rates for the first night of any trip and, when you do, make sure you've got insurance if you can't eat the loss.
Here, having asked the property, Hilton corporate would have to be willing to eat the loss itself. Not likely.
UA won't cover because it's classic consequential damages.
