When was the date the check authorized? Since you said you always paid one month in advance, I assume your payment for March was done in early Feb? I am just trying to narrow down the period that affects the physical check that we do not even know about until now.
Normally BB sends out an email when the check is presented for payment. I normally give it a 2 weeks lag between pre-authorizing the check and the clearance of the check, knowing how long it sometimes takes for the condo office to deposit the payments from everybody.
Was the pre-authorization code written correctly on your check? Have you doubled-checked that?
On Thursday I gave a pre-authorized check to my condo office for the installment payment of the special assessment. I sure hope it would go thru like it has been since last quarter of 2013. As of now the Condo hasn't deposited the check yet from what I understand. Not sure if I want to re-emptively stop payment on this.
Wow, lots of questions! I will try to answer my best...
Yep, I called to have them return the funds because the check would not cash. I'm not sure if it was on BB's side or my complex's system, but I didn't have another option. My complex was not going to scan again. Not the typical definition of a "stop payment", as it was never paid, but that is what BB called it.
I preauthorized the check three days before I presented it for payment. I usually preauthorize the same day or maybe a day before, so this shouldn't be a triggering factor.
I think I stated it, but if not, March is the only month I didn't pay in advance OR pay electronically via BB. So I did not make a payment in February for March, rather I made a payment in March for March. Not that that is of much importance here.
Yup, I received the physical check back and I wrote everything as clear as I usually do.
BB had no idea why.
Keep in mind I use these checks bimonthly for my housekeeper, so this is not new to me and it was totally unexpected.
