As others have already said, unfortunately you are not due a refund. The fact that it "wasn't your fault" isn't relevant. It wasn't the hotel's fault either, yet you are asking them to eat it. Why should they?
Some hotels will refund in such a situation, or at least offer to let the amount paid be applied to a future stay, but that's entirely up to them, if they want to offer that courtesy.
Also, as others have said, if you want to not be stuck in such situations, the answer is travel insurance, either an explicit policy you buy, or something you get as part of a certain credit card.
