Like I said upthread, call the PM line if the GA doesn't help you. It's worked for me, even in cases where the GA was supposedly helping me and on top of things.
+1, get to the gate early to verify your placement on the upgrade list. Also wouldn't hurt to have a copy of the T&Cs from the web site. In this situation I politely explain I have run into this issue before and was able to correct it by calling the PM line. I would also not board until I tried speaking with PM line.
I would also write Delta and ask for compensation since you bought a K fare specifically to use your SWU.
This kind of crap always frosts me.
