German ABG Plus for US Citizens, members of Global Entry

Hi all,

Just wanted to share my experience with the forum members regarding enrolling into German's ABG Plus Pilot program for US Citizens.

I am a US citizen, member of Global Entry Program, got enrolled into ABG Plus program yesterday at Frankfurt Airport. The whole process is free and took me less than 10 minutes to complete.

I was told that they are still running it as a test (pilot program) and no more than 30 people signed up so far. I wonder if we can change that number after you read this post.

Here is how you do it:

1. Go to Terminal 1, departure zone A, floor 1 in Frankfurt airport. The enrollment center is hidden in the corner on the right hand (curb) side. You need to leave the secure area if you have a layover in FRA. It is open daily from 06:30 to 21:30

2. Bring your US passport and the Global entry Card

3. The officer (mine spoke descent English) will take your information and will print a 4 page form for you to fill out (basic information, address, passport number, etc. in English).

4. They will ask you to approach the camera to scan your retina

5. The officer will play a video and explain how to use the system

6. Enrollment is instantaneous (I was able to use ABG gates on the way back 4 hours later.

I am enclosing a scan of the ABG brochure in English that outlines the use of the ABG gates. ABG gates themselves are available only in Departure Zone B at Frankfurt. If you are flying to the US, your flight will probably depart from Zone Z. No worries, just go to Zone B, use the Automatic gate and use the train to get to Z terminal.

Let me know if you need any practical advice, always ready to help.
