Dishonest? I bet many people much prefer the lifelong durability of a heavy, metal zipper pull to that of a corded one - and considering that these bags are essentially designed as "buy it for life" items I think Tom Bihn was smart to use the sturdiest construction possible regardless of noise.
Take 15 minutes and fix the problem, here's how:
1. Go to hardware store, bring bag with you.
2. Buy heat shrink tubing that fits snugly over the zipper pulls.
3. Cut the heat shrink to fit and then use a blowdryer on the hot setting until the tubing conforms to the zipper pull.
Your noise problem will be solved, you won't have to sacrifice any durability or warranty by switching to corded pulls, and you even have the option of a specific color for your zipper pulls.
