it woulndt be full of cargo, and if there was cargo up there, you're not looking at anything substantial. maybe an animal or two and thats about it.

I dont recall if the passenger load was mentioned, buthteonly way this would play a factor would be if E+ was full and E- was empty. You will see this often in business markets that have multiple flights. Granted, PHL-SFO is not a frequent market, but the imbalanace could happen. You have a wide range of an envelope to fit in, so the movement to the back would only be about 1-2 pax at the most oftentimes. which seems to have been the case here.
