Hard to believe a flight to SFO on a 319 would be loaded severely nose heavy with cargo. Generally speaking SFO gets a lot of transferring passengers, unless it's a late arriving flight. So the bags usually get split up between the front and the back fairly evenly. But even if it was mostly terminating traffic, the front cargo hold on a 319 is really small and only holds 70-80 bags tops. So unless the flight was just light in general, I don't see how everything would have gone up front. And if everything wasn't up front, you wouldn't think the weight would be that big of an issue. Though it seems like there is a huge movement towards being the most fuel efficient possible, so there is always that.
it woulndt be full of cargo, and if there was cargo up there, you're not looking at anything substantial. maybe an animal or two and thats about it.
I dont recall if the passenger load was mentioned, buthteonly way this would play a factor would be if E+ was full and E- was empty. You will see this often in business markets that have multiple flights. Granted, PHL-SFO is not a frequent market, but the imbalanace could happen. You have a wide range of an envelope to fit in, so the movement to the back would only be about 1-2 pax at the most oftentimes. which seems to have been the case here.
