That said, I used to be Marriott loyal with the Marriott credit card. In the past several years switched to Hilton and have a Hilton card. The gross number of points doesn't matter. What matters is point redemption and where you can get the best deal and actually find availability at the lowest points level for the properties and locations you are looking for. I've had great luck with Hilton with only a few exceptions. I had more difficulty (and still have difficulty) redeeming my Marriott points.
