I am flying PHL-CPH via LHR on 2nd April and returning 5th April. I would like to earn US miles on my all-BA itinerary. But the advice seems to be to not assume that may not be possible at that time.

I belong to AA's program, but the last time I flew on AA was probably 10 years ago. I assume that I could use the AA number to have the BA miles credited to my AA number. But if I do that, will I somehow be able to benefit from those miles in terms of maintaining my CP status on US, assuming that the US and AA frequent flyer programs are still separate at the end of this year?
