If the fare rules allow something, reference to the rate desk ime just comes back permitting it. That he mentions having been quoted large fees for these changes also highlights that he must be aware of it

These seems to me to make it hard to claim to be innocently unaware of the situation

I've been taking multiple trips on a good Choice Plus fare between XXX-XXX and gaming the Same Day Flight Change to add segments and miles.
This is the very first sentence from the OP. I live in LAS and I know what gaming means. OP knew exactly what he/she was doing.

To the OP: Have you been contacted from AA yet, or perhaps they are still listing to the phone calls you made to "game" the system?
