It's really hard to say what happens to her bags. Few times my bags were able to make the connection while I was not - bags were waiting for me at the destination.

Most of the times they will be put on the same flight. Personally, I found it easier to have a long layover without bags than with them - normally you have to go between airline counters, hotels, etc...
