Real problem starts if you are going to MAD or LIS or ATH. Or further east, WAW. I have taken the train from FRA to WAW too...
The Europe Flight Pass includes MAD and ATH (seasonal). AC just added LIS as a seasonal route, assume it will be added to the FP very soon.
