I do not have HON status, nor am I ever likely to, but I agree with the sentiment here. I have never understood the desire for exclusivity in this regard. The only value of exclusivity in HON status is whether it helps the airline maintain service standards. If they can maintain service standards for more HONs, then lower the standards (and I could qualify). If not, then keep it as it is.

In terms of luggage tags , it's fine for checkin luggage , but to see fellow HON (or SEN for that matter ) , flashing it on their carry on , or god forbid on their briefcase , makes me unsure if to laugh or cry.
I do use my SEN tags on my carry on, not to flash my status, but because every bag you carry should have an ID on it - mine just happen to be SEN tags. I have enough of them that I have SEN tags on every bag I fly with. I am not going to go buy luggage tags to just to avoid your perception of its inappropriateness.
I do agree that I am not going to impress anyone because I have a SEN tag on my bag.
