Would my Platinum Gold Passport status entitle me to be wait-listed for a room at a Hyatt Regency property that is currently sold out? This is for a Property during which a large convention is happening on the dates I want to stay. In fact, I'm going to the convention and so want to stay in that hotel.

I'm told by a friend that availability will likely never reappear through Hyatt's online reservation system between now and my arrival date. But in a few months to keep calling Reservations and asking if any rooms have opened up; and that This Is The Only Way to get in.

But I wonder if I could somehow email or call the right person and get wait-listed for a room. I know for some conferences, with some properties, they will wait-list people. For this conference and its Host Hotels, I haven't heard of such a thing. So I thought I'd source the Power of Flyertalk for this question.
