This is my first time posting to flyertalk. I tried searching but could not find exactly what I am looking for. Forgive me if it is somewhere.

I am flying from the USA to Frankfurt onto Accra, Ghana. Our return flight is Ghana to Frankfurt to Houston. I am traveling with a group of four. We have an eight hour layover in Frankfurt. I definitely want to get out of the airport. We arrive at 5:20AM, so we definitely get there early, probably too early to really do much. But, that gives us time to store our carryon bags, find the correct subway, train or whatever, and get somewhere...this is where you come in.

On our way to Ghana, our layover in Frankfurt is just under seven hours. We arrive at 7:45AM.

What are some recommendations with that amount of time in Frankfurt? Is there an area in Frankfurt we can go, eat breakfast and walk around for a few hours? Though our first layover in Frankfurt is an hour shorter, it is a little later in the morning. Would it be better to try and go out on the shorter or wait for the longer layover even though it is early in the morning? Thanks for your help!
