I think it has more to do with it being a major gateway for flights to Asia for Delta. By offering BE service from the east coast they can capture some of the market that would want ultra long haul service from the east coast to asia to avoid domestic first class for the first 5 hours of the flight.
While there may be some of this, if I were flying TPAC ex-NYC in J, I'd pick one of the many non-stop options rather than route via SEA.
I suspect there is some demand for premium travel on this route from the tech companies and others in the area. On my 7am flight out last week, J was 12/16 before going to the gate.
