You might run the risk of having their no-shows spread to your family if the systems decide someone didnt show up (If you stay on same PNR).
If you are certain that the other family is not going to come, shield yourself and split the PNR's. That way, their credit stays there (unless you paid and havent gotten paid in which case you are screwed as the tickets are in their name).
I would recommend splitting PNR's if you are certain of them not coming.
