I'm not sure this is the best way to Mileage Run for MPO, but say I use the
US$1,900+500 fare to go MLE-HKG-YVR in J
Club Miles earned: 23,388. So let's say 9 round trips to get the 210K Club Miles you need to go from GR to DM within one year
Cost = US$21,600 or HK$168,480
Alternative: 140 Club Sectors = 70 round trips to Taipei. HK$2,400 x 70 = HK$168,000
Say you've 4 million miles (e.g. from credit card spending)
And you're an AM trader
Realisation at $0.11 (rough trading value) = $440,000
Realisation at (say) $0.2 (assuming you can use your DM to open up business seats) = $800,000
Net profit = $800K-440K-169K = HK$191K
Some profit there
But whether it's worth your timecost, I dunno.
To fly those 9 round trips, it's 30 hours each way so 540 hours (22.5 days).
Alternative for Taipei Sector Run let's say you fit in 3 round trips a day so that's 23 days (funny how the sector and mileage alternatives are near equivalent)
Your 4 million miles is roughly 33 round trips to Europe
Say you take 0.5 day on average to flog each ticket
--> 16.5 days
So $191K for 39 days work
And I think this is only realistic if you don't have a day job/self employed
