The itinerary I booked on AAdvantage miles is KMG-HKG-LAX on CX, stopover in LAX, then LAX-YVR on AS, and YVR-JFK on CX (same day). There is a Dragonair segment but it doesn't need to be there, I just picked it for convenience because it was an option.
Alaska was adamant (two reps) that no stopover was allowed on a CX award except in Hong Kong. So, either I got two reps that didn't know their stuff, there has been a silent policy change, or the policy really is and has been no stopovers except in HKG. Has anyone recently managed to book a CX award with a stopover outside of HKG?

Come to think of it I have done a stop-over on CX award in SEA. Granted they may have allowed it due to no other saver seats available without a stopover. I was already booked as open-jaw at the time (ticket was YYZ-HKG-DPS-HKG-LAX-SEA-BOS). It was in 2011 so maybe things have changed
