As always explained to me by Amex MR, spousal transfers could only be done, if the one transferring the points was also a AU on the other spouse's account. And so, we never had any issues transferring points until now.

When we called today to transfer my wife's points (we will be closing her account), I was told that the CSR's received a memo in November from Amex policymakers that spousal transfers are no longer allowed. Three different agents confirmed the same thing.

While it was never a published benefit, in my case, the CSR's always treated it as such. It was nice having this option.
