Well it makes no difference. Due to my hippy parents getting stoned and drunk after I was born (don't blame them) they managed to mis-spell my name in 2 different ways on registering my birth, then they fell foul of a rule in France that said that given names had to come off a central list. So I have 3 passports with 3 different spellings in it. I travel on a 4th spelling. Never had a problem, not even on low cost carriers. The US is particularly laid back about it.
