It doesn't matter if the discount from resellers wasn't much to begin with if they could be bridged. The resulting savings could be quite significant. Had you bridged tickets to APs or PAPs in past, you may have seen quite a big savings over the years.
I've tried to upgrade tickets in the past to PAP, but it needs to be done prior to last day use. I could have saved approximately $100 per ticket, but I was trying to combine two expired tickets. No credit was offered. This is like the no bridge feature, just was not aware that expired tickets could not be credited towards AP and PAP.

My point is as long as discounted tickets are upgradeable, there is no issue. Another point is the savings purchased from discount tickets aren't $50 difference to my knowledge, although you mentioned your example was an arbitrary example.

My opinion if a new policy is introduced that discounted tickets are not upgradeable, its inconvenient for those who do not know the policy. Just a matter of time when the public is educated to buy what they want the first time out.. just like the DL 5 day cap on regular tickets now. That was a karfuffle, but no longer as the public is now educated.
