You can just walk onto the train, just make sure you're not in the quiet car if you don't want to be. I would definitely second having a backup plan of the taxi, should cost you about $25. The silver line sometimes takes some waiting. The good thing is though, as long you're at the station by 3:10, you'll be fine.
