They can book groups through their sales department, I would bet. My best guess is that they misunderstood what you actually wanted.
I can confirm that Platinum Concierge is not allowed to contact the hotels to be your intermediary on something like this, but they can ask the property's sales office to contact you so you can discuss what options you have. My apologies if that did not happen.
