I successfully claimed for one flight as it said I didn't need to enter the ticket number, I have since tried to claim for the rest but it is now needing the ticket number.
Are you sure you do not have the ticket number? If you bought the ticket through United, it will be listed on your "eTicket Itinerary and Receipt" that you received in email, as an "eTicket number."
It also may be listed on your credit card statement. If I look at the charge for my last United ticket on the AmEx website, it lists the ticket number as part of the charge detail (you have to hit the "plus" symbol for the charge).
