Pilot misses runway on 476....twice. Autolander issues?
SEA>SAN over the weekend, we're on final approach, suddenly start ascending again. OK, everyone needs a mulligan every so often, just a little unnerving (and besides, weather wasn't great). We circle around, we approach again....and ascend again. This time we get directed out over the ocean to circle back (which got one person within earshot proclaiming "they're taking us away from the population" - yeah, that's not gonna wig some people out to hear someone say that...). Third time lucky, as the pilots commit to the landing that time around, though we wasted a lot - and I mean *A LOT* of runway getting the wheels on the ground. Like, to the point where even I was getting a little concerned cause it was point of no return time for take 4.
I'm not one to usually single out staff for thoughts of discord, but that cat in the captain's chair kinda came off as the type to where the plane flies him as opposed to the other way around. I'm not sure if the autolander crapped out or what, but that was uncomfortable. Is there a method to see which pilots are flying which planes so I know to avoid his going forward?
