I have stayed at the Renaissance Karlsruhe and it is a good property located slightly north of the Black Forest region but is very well connected to all the major cities/towns around there if you don't mind driving.

Do visit Strasbourg across the border in France if you have the time for it, it is beautiful and a short drive from the Black Forest region. Also Stuttgart has the Mercedes Benz Museum which is worth a visit.
