No, I am not that stupid, to 1. waste money in a bar. 2. when I was young and stupid, now I am just young, I went to bars in NYC. You do not leave stuff around. People go out of the way to steal stuff, so why should I be the one to make it easy for them?

Have you ever been playing cards and left a few hundred in poker chips on the table when you went to piss, trusting the other players to not steal your chips? If you are talking about a casino? That is quite simple. YES. Because the pit boss and dealers are watching the tables. IF there was an issue, there are the other thousand or so cameras at every angle at the casino. I make sure to know how much money I am playing with, particularly any time I would leave the table.

have you ever left a quarter on the pool table at a bar to reserve the table and did not keep your eye on it, trusting others to not steal your quarter?? Nope. I don't go to bars to do that.

If you answered yes to any of the follwing questions, then you believe in the goodness of your fellow man just like op, and just like you, op felt he could leave all his money on his seat in his unlocked car while he did chores, etc. So don't judge op if you have done things just like him!!!
You can believe in the fellow goodness of a man, but then people are getting murdered, drugs and violence. If everyone was a good man, there would be no crime and we would all live in utopia.

Unfortunately, we live in the real world. You can hope in the "goodness" but I am not going to be stupid to temp the .01% of society that are scumbags.

Let's use a real example of what this is.

Have you ever gone to a store, bought $5,000 worth of stuff, were loud to announce it to everyone. Get in your car. Drive, park your car, leave $5,000 in cash on the front seat, car unlocked?

No? Good.

Have you ever left a credit card in plain view in an unlocked car?
do you ever leave your window shades open and door unlocked 24/7, while you are either sleeping or awake?
Have you ever left a phone ($50), an ipad ($400), a laptop $(400) in plain sight in an unlocked car? No?

NO?

Then why the hell would you leave $5,000?

Maybe I am just jaded, but living in NYC and having friends and clients working for the police departments in NJ, you learn real quick at how much crime there really is and how stupid some people really are.

I really hope the OP recovers his money from the criminals, by legal means, be it insurance or CVS-Incomm stop the cards if they were not yet loaded.

HOWEVER, telling someone to do a chargeback, makes them no less a criminal than the scumbags who "opened his car door and took it from his front seat."

We will all be victims of theft or a crime at some point. BUT WHY... do we need to help the criminals by being stupid?
