You should be able to redeem US miles on BA flights once US joins oneworld. But be aware that there are hefty surcharges (formerly, "fuel surcharges") when redeeming AA miles for long-haul flights on BA metal. I expect that you will see the same thing once you can redeem US miles for BA flights.

Thanks for the tip. I remember reading about that but had forgotten.
