What a fabulous TR, and excellent photos KARFA.

I have been to Norway once about 18 years ago (I have a little further to travel than you ) and I only got as far North as Trondheim (and it was in Summer), so no Northern Lights for me. I am not all that far from Aurora Australis but it's more difficult than the NL, apparently seen from Tasmania from time to time, but not from MEL.

I recall reading Bill Bryson's Europe travel book ("Neither Here Nor There") and he tells how he had to hang out in Hammerfest for two or more weeks in order to catch the Aurora Borealis...I'm not sure if he was really unlucky, or you were really lucky. I'll put it down to your research.

Anyway, thanks for posting, sounds like an excellent trip, and it has moved the NL (or AB) back to a high position on my list for seeing.
