I own both (and the backpack in the range as well). I think the only other difference aside from the strap is the gym bag has a pocket on the side. For some reason my gym bag collapses flatter for me. Let us know which one you keep. I use the gym bag more... Although part of this might be because my duffle is light green and I am not the biggest fan of the color.
