Hi everyone,
I need some help from the experts to book a last-minute award trip from LAX to DEL (New Delhi, India).
My flight preferences:
Class - Business
Departure: Leave LAX anytime March 10-12
Return: Leave Delhi anytime March 20-22
Ideally, I'd like to use LAX on my return flight as my North American gateway to get a free one-way later in the year.
I have the following mileage balances:
AA: 250K
US: 121K
UA: 160K
BA: 100K
DL: 75K
Amex: 200K
Chase UR: 250K
Trying to minimize fees, taxes, number of miles needed, and still have good routing/airlines.
I'm Platinum on AA which would waive last-minute fee. I'm Silver on UA, so would incur a $50 last-minute ticketing fee which I could live with.
Using the BA/QF websites, I have on hold the following outbound flights using AA miles:
3/12 LAX-JFK (AA)
3/12 JFK-DOH (QR) - arrive 3/13
3/13 DOH-DEL (QR) - arrive 3/14
I'm struggling with the return flight. Not finding anything on using AA miles except for BA through LHR (high taxes/fees). Any alternate AA miles routes/ideas?
Using Aeroplan site, I could use 80K UA or 75K Aeroplan for the following return flight in business:
3/22 DEL-HGH (Ethiopian)
3/22 HGH-TPE (EVA)
3/22 TPE-LAX (EVA)
Any ideas on making this routing more efficient? Would prefer Singapore or ANA if possible.
Thanks,
AAP
Have you looked into flying on IB or AB (using AA miles) for part of your return flight? AB has flights from Germany to LAX (though only 4-5 times weekly, I think) and low fees. IB award flights cannot be booked online, but you can check their schedule online and then call AA to see if award travel is possible. IB's fees are higher than AB's, but much lower than BA's.
