Ha, that's funny. Between weather, congestion, cleaning crews, the computer not being able to give weight and balances and just stuff breaking- boarding issues with bags are pretty low on the list of reasons that flights are late.
With load factors where they are and them adding slim seats to add more people, issues with not enough space for bags are going to crop up. A few bags here and there aren't going to make a difference, it will just transfer the start of gate checking from group 4 to group 5.
For the 'thirty minute' standing in line to make sure your bag gets on, if GAs would make sure that all of group X got in line before calling group Y and keep gate lice from gumming everything up, that would make sure that frequent fliers got their bags on.
